Building on a successful cooperation on last year’s Europe Day, the EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN) and European Business Chamber (Eurocham), supported the EU Delegation in Jakarta in organizing the Europe Day Reception 2017 at the Dharmawangsa Hotel on Tuesday, May 9th 2017.

The reception was attended by over 1000 people, including prominent guests such as government representatives, diplomatic corps in Jakarta, business leaders, academia, and the media.

The celebration started with the Indonesian national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and the European Union anthem “Ode to Joy”. H.E. Mr. Vincent GUÉREND, the Head of Delegation/ Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia and to Brunei Darussalam, welcomed the attendees with a brief speech followed by H.E. Francisco Fontan Pardo, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to ASEAN, Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, Mrs. Siti Nurbaya Bakarand as a final speech by Deputy Secretaries-General of ASEAN, Dr. Mochtar Riady.

The ceremony was officially opened with the traditional cake-cutting by Mr. Vincent GUÉREND together with Mr. Francisco Fontan Pardo, and Mrs. Siti Nurbaya Bakar, as well as all EU countries’ Ambassadors in Jakarta.
