The 5th EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue (EIBD) was held in Jakarta on 19th November. Already an established landmark event, this year's EIBD, hosted by EIBN, attracted several representatives of the Indonesian and the European business communities which were able to discuss possible solutions and joint recommendations on issues affecting trade and investment between the EU and Indonesia.

EIBD 2014 was supported by the European Commission and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. The EIBD 2014 was hosted by EIBN, and organized by five European Chambers of Commerce in Indonesia and the Indonesian business community (KADIN Indonesia and APINDO).

This year’s edition included the presence of the President of the European Council of the European Union, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy. This EIBD was an opportunity for Indonesian and European business communities to come into contact with representatives of the new Indonesian government, who took part in the event for the first time.

The EIBD Conference featured several sectoral discussions, namely automotive, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, textile and footwear, infrastructure and sustainability. This year's event was concluded with a CSR-dedicated exhibition organized by the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Eurocham.

High level executives from European and Indonesian companies were present in the 5th EIBD conference and discussed common recommendations from their respective sectors, presenting them to senior representatives of the Indonesian Government and the European Commission.

The EIBN created an open dialogue between the European and Indonesian business communities. In addition, it served as a follow-up on the recommendations of EIBD 2013 regarding steps to be taken by the Government of Indonesia and the European Union, the EIBD process and the future deepening of EU-Indonesia trade relations.
