Circular Economy Mission 2018 to Jakarta
On Friday the 26th of October, the FoundationHolland Circular Hotspot will organize two workshops on waste management under the umbrella of the EU Circular Economy mission to Indonesia. Aside from participants to the mission - several Dutch companies will be represented - interested companies in Jakarta are also most welcome to participate. Below you find a short description of both workshops.
09:45-11:15 “Implementing local circular plastic & marine litter solutions for islands & hotspots”
The plastic challenge in Indonesia is well-known. In the workshop we will discuss how to make policies actionable and scale-able. We will showcase the initiatives of both the PRAISE coalition, focused on collection and sorting of packaging at hotspots, and a Dutch initiative in the tourism sector aimed at reduction of plastics. Both initiatives are part of an integrated approach: connect solutions in design, production, consumption and waste, linking governance, knowledge and technology. The initiatives and coalitions are collaborative, forward looking actions, feasible yet ambitious. We will discuss how to scale them up involving all stakeholders.
11:15-12:45 "From Waste Management to Circular Economy in the Indonesian context”
Tackling Indonesia’s waste management challenges has to be done in manageable steps. By focusing on actionable area’s and demonstration projects with scale-up potential, we can show that solutions work and speed them up. A focus on recycling will be introduced as a first step towards a true Circular Economy transition. New approaches that have been proven on various continents, involving the formal and the informal sector, will be presented and combined with proven and new technologies from Europe. A panel will reflect on the applicability in Indonesia of the options presented.
Both workshops are organized with the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water, The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the RWS Agency. The location is the Ayana Midplaza Jakarta, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 10-11. If you want to participate, please send an e-mail to Mr. Trio Wisudhanto or Mrs. Laura Aramo
